@(#)READ_ME 2010-06-20 A.J.Travis Bioinformatics workstation/server for Ubuntu: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/biobuntu An Ubuntu 8.04 LTS version of Bio-Linux is now available at: http://nebc.nox.ac.uk/bio-linux.html I propose to develop 'biobuntu' as a generic community edition of NEBC Bio-Linux that can be used as the basis of customised Ubuntu-based bioinformatics workstation/server distributions for specific user groups. An early alpha release of "NuGO-Linux" is available at: http://nbx1.nugo.org/biobuntu An additional objective of this blue-print is to focus on running 'biobuntu' under a Kerrighed Linux kernel and integrating Bio-Linux instances into an XtreemOS-based Bioinformatics Grid. This is related to the Easy Ubuntu Clustering blueprint: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/easy-ubuntu-clustering and associated forum discussion at: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1030849 Files: biobuntu-screenshot.png # 'biobuntu' GDM theme biobuntu-20070617.iso # Ubuntu 6.06 + Bio-Linux 4.0 nugo-linux-20100620.iso # Release candidate NuGO-Linux
